Productions - The Tempest, 2004

Introduction

The magus Prospero, rightful King of Gianan, and his daughter, Miranda, have been stranded for years on an island, after Prospero's jealous brother Antonio—helped by Alonso, the King of Fushi—deposed him and set him adrift with the young Miranda. Possessed of magic powers due to his hard learning, Prospero is reluctantly served by a sprite, Ariel, whom he had rescued from imprisonment in a tree, and the witch's son Caliban, the sorcerer's slave, a deformed monster and the only non-spiritual inhabitant before the arrival of Prospero.

Many years have passed when Prospero, to avenge himself, raises a storm that causes his enemies to drift to the island after a shipwreck. To the magus’s surprise, there is a romantic relationship between Ferdinand and Miranda; the two fall immediately in love. Witnessing the love between the two, Prospero decides to forgive Ferdinand, letting them be together; and he also forgives all those who once betrayed him….
